When i checked email today for the site I found an email from a woman asking for assistance for her and her family. She is one of the hurricane Katrina victims.
I am no organization, I am just a person that tries to instill kindness and giving into my daily life and hope to encourage others to do the same. I therefore am not the sort of place someone should turn to for financial assistance. However I thought I would post her email here. If anyone knows of any organizations which deal with Katrina victims and such which may be able to help her please let me know and I will pass the information on to her, or put her in touch with you. Sometimes just offering advice or sharing knowledge of where one can go to in such a situation is all someone needs.
Here is her email:
Despite the fact that I have a home standing, the impact Hurricane Katrina caused has taken a toll on me and my children. I am a single parent of two beautiful girls, one sixteen (16) and the other, eleven (11).
My home was badly damage and has been restored somewhat; but, unless I am able to continue paying my mortgage, I will lose what’s left of it. Because I did not have insurance, it has taken every bit of my income, and donations, to restore my home to livable condition. And, unfortunately, the bills have continued coming and I have no means of paying them.
I am currently $2,800.00 behind on my mortgage and approximately $1,650.00 behind on my payments to my bankruptcy attorney and foreclosure is in the very near future.
I am writing you out of desperation in hopes of seeking help to save me and my children’s home. Do you know someone that can possibly help me? Are who I may turn to to seek monetary assistance?
Sincerely,
P. Cabaniss
Hopefully she will find the assistance she needs. If I find out information for her I surely will pass it on, but unfortunately that is all I am capable of doing. I am not a rich philanthropist……….YET!
