Ok……….I dont’ know if I will be posting tonight or not…….depends on how my preparations go……

I am going to be on vacation….returning the evening of July 5th. I probably won’t post anything until the 6th.

Now this doesn’t mean I won’t be continuing my one act a day! I just will be doing it without suggestions (since i won’t be on computer) and I will be doing it somewhere I don’t live. Actually it should be fun because I love being creative and this gives me a great opportunity. I am also certain if I ask my kids for suggestions that I will probably be doing fifty million things….yes they love this whole thing!

So please don’t think I abandoned this venture…..I am not. I am just going to be out in the sun with the sand between my toes…thinking up new ideas for a few days!

Task One Option:

Well for this day I chose to write a note for my mailman. (Ya know I am never around I don’t even know if it is a guy or a girl!). I sure hope the person understands that I am expressing my thanks and not expressing some sort of stalking psychotic obsession! At least I leave it so they don’t know which person is the one sending it!

Today I decided to send a picture to a friend of mine. The only hitch is I am having trouble finding her addy. I have a note written and the picture. Now I just have to track her addy down (yes it has been that long since we  talked to each other…..that is why I think it would be so great sending it.) So this may not exactly happen today….but it will happen as soon as I can figure out where to send it!

Today I decided to leave a book. It has been preparing for Noah’s ark around here, so finding a place to leave a book for someone to find wasn’t as easy as on a sunny day. Then I can inconspicuously leave one on a bench along the harbor, on a bench in a park……many places to leave one for someone to come across. So on this rainy day……that ladies locker room at the gym worked. Sure it may end up in the lost and found, but I have to think at one point it may end up in someone’s hands. Also unlike most times when I leave a book I really enjoyed. This time I left a book that I started but couldn’t get into. It doesn’t mean it wasn’t a good book, because it had good reviews..just meant it wasn’t my type of book. Maybe this way it will find its way to someone who might appreciate it.

Today I had fun looking at all of the e-greeting sites to find  funny greetings to send to people. I found so many there are really such great things out there.

But honestly the best thing I did today…on the way to the gym I was driving and this person started backing out into me…..I tried to swerve but bam they hit me. We got out of the car and I looked at my car. I honestly couldn’t see anything because that side had gotten a hit and run on it when it was parked once…so honestly I couldn’t tell if more damage was done or not. So since the side of my car looked ok….other than the front end where there was the dent from the other car……I just looked at her and said don’t worry. I mean the doors open..I really didn’t see anything……and heck I wanted to go to the gym……and she looked all worried and upset.

When I ventured into this I certainly wasn’t prepared for my new position and summer business to get me caught so off guard. So no I haven’t had the opportunity to Log the last few entries into the blog. My apologies.

Day Eighty Seven - Honestly, I pulled another eleven hour day shift at work, things became extremely hectic, and by the time I got home….it was pretty much a night where it was me time. Selfish yes, random act of kindness no. However what I have decided to do……is at the end of 365 days (if I get that far…….life seems to be proving more complicated at times than I anticipated) then I will review all my entries and extend beyond for each day I have missed. I supposed I did a random act of kindness for agreeing to stay so long at work when I didn’t have to, but I consider that more being an employee who believes in doing their best.

Day Eight Eight - Actually due to working so late the day before, I was told to leave early. On this day there was an interesting update related to a very recent entry. The young guy that approached me for money. I said I didn’t believe him truly, however I still did give him money. Well, I ran into him again. Actually he approached me again. And hahaha he had the same story not recognizing me or recalling that I had given him money (so much for thinking maybe it might have meant something.) He asked me for a cigarette and as I said told me the same story expecting some money. I gave him a cigarette, that was certainly easy enough. However then I pointed out to him that he had told me the same story on another day. I said it was very unlikely that the same thing happened again like that, and if they did then he needed more than just “change to get home”.. and that I could not give him. He then walked away. I don’t know if it meant anything to him. I am pretty sure it didn’t, but one never knows.

Then on the way home I saw a neighbor who I don’t really home walking home and it was extremely hot. So I pulled over and gave her a ride. We shared a few words, and I know her a little more now. That was nice.

Day Eight Nine

I did a few things this day………none on the list, but I was rather busy in doing these things so I find it excusable.

I helped a friend with some things for their website that they needed and didn’t know how to do

I worked on a friend’s resume. She needs to find a new job and I offered my help in fine tuning her resume

I took some pictures with my digital camera for a friend. I think they turned out pretty good! But the jury is out.

Day Ninety

Task One Option:

Drop off a toy or game at a homeless shelter.

Task Two Option:

Buy a phone card and give to a homeless shelter for them to give to someone.

Task Three Option:

Drop a few coins in an area where children play, where they can easily find them.

Today had a picnic at a really wonderful park! All sorts of fun things to do. So I chose to do the change thing. I again carefully placed them about when no one was looking. I saw once child actually find one of the quarters I had placed…. It was like she had found a gold pirates coin! Her face all lit up and she ran to her mom showing the quarter she had found. I love doing things like that when people aren’t looking!

Well my random act of kindness found me. Now some may disagree with me on this one..I know. On my walk to my car in the parking garage a guy approached me. His smile was friendly…he was assertive. I looked at his smile and this guy couldn’t been a day over 25 but he was missing teeth. He started to tell me how from the night before someone got arrested for something……this huge story..and how he needed to get home to this area which was a good  30 miles away. Now did I believe his story? No. He said he didn’t want the money for drugs and do I know he was honest…NO. Do I belive much about anything he told me. NO.

But i do believe no matter what….no matter where in life this guy was…..maybe he was reaching out for the wrong reasons..maybe i was a mark. But for me…..that moment….I realized that showing compassion…even if he never understands……maybe he will maybe he won’t..was what mattered.

Yeah….maybe when we put that hand out it is slammed right back and we are a “mark”. Maybe the money I grabbed and gave him will go to no good. No matter.

Although maybe it didnt’ do right with this guy….maybe that one time i do reach in….and do give….it is the compassion that grabs hold of the person..and maybe that one time..is the time that just the compassion of a stranger makes them evaluate things differently.

I have been homeless..i have been needing. Not everyone asking for a handout is a drug addict. You would be suprised how a series of bad events can leave even ths most intelligent of people. I have learned not to judge because I have been there and I know. And no I am not stupid.

Yeah i doubt my money went to good….I will never know…but at least I left with him..whether he thinks he got over on me or not…i showed that there is compassion in this world. Its ok. I hope he is ok.Maybe his story was true.
For the one that labels me as a mark…..i will not deny because there are those that truly need and are earnest…..and it is not for me to judge on my distorted basis because i am not in the alley…who is and who isn’t deserving. Once in the alley….we all look alike.

Today I  sent a card to a local group. Not really a human group……..meaning it was to one of the local animal shelter programs around here. They have done more than their share in doing amazing work to provide shelter and care for animals and finding homes for  animals without a family. It seems that people still don’t get the concept of getting their animals fixed and the problem of homeless animals grows by the year. I just felt the need to thank them myself for what great work I see them doing in our community.

After such a busy weekend……….I really kept this simple today. Looking around for some (yes I shared more than one) funnies…….was a great activity when I really wished to sit still and relax. This task is always one that is beneficial for the person sending. Laughter is contagious and to send it……spreads it…….to read through and find it………PRICELESS!

Writing these together because I haven’t had the time to sit down and write these two. Due to my schedule I had to modify and pull my own random acts of kindness out.

Friday I made my regular long trek in the card which gave me the opportunity to drive through the tunnel again. So i got to do the pay the toll for the person behind me fun! Again I do not know if the card I leave gets given to them, or any reaction which goes on so it makes it all the more mysterious and wondering for me.

Yesterday was more of a challenge. The children and I were off to spend a whole day at an amusement park (and I mean the whole day…….we left at closing!). So it was a day to keep my eye open and self awareness up to the point of seeing moments when good could be done. For one…….we ordered a pizza for lunch but then realized that we didn’t have the appetite we thought we did. The prices are outrageous at these parks, so we offered it to some kids so they wouldn’t have to pay. You never know what people will do when you offer things like that because unfortunately in our world today, people offer are very untrusting. However the kids happily accepted our pizza. Then it was the random letting others ahead and such. It was a wonderful day regardless!
