Cards! Cards! Cards! I love sending cards! There is something magical about putting that stamp on the envelope and dropping it in the mailbox for a future destination. Yes I picked the card random acts of kindness angel task! I sent a thank you card to a local charity I recently noticed. They are working with people struggling to make a life for themself. I love the work they do, and what is great is they are one of the charity that accepts gifts other than money. So when I have some of the items they need I can donate them. So I thanked them.

when you go somewhere to get or do something, ask someone around you if you can pick up, drop off or do something for them while you do

Take flowers to a hospital ward and give them to someone who hasn’t had any visitors.

I usually like to pick the more active things or of course the card things, but today I decided to try the random acts of kindness task of asking if people needed things when I did things. I don’t know if subliminally I wanted to do more since I was aware, or if I don’t realize how many times during the day I have the opportunity to do things for others and don’t realize it. When aware, I realized how often I was asking people if I could grab or do something for them on my way to doing something I was already doing. It is something to think about.

Since I spent so much of this holiday weekend at playgrounds. I figured I would end the holiday weekend with the random acts of kindness tag of putting the change out where children could find it. Last time I just threw it all around for the kids to find, but this time I decided to be a little more selective. I  randomly put them around the playground in different spots that children might “discover” them. The more interesting spots I put the larger coins, the less interesting spots the smaller change. It made it more fun to me….and who knows for the children.

Open the phone book, pick a name, and send them something (movie tickets, thank you card, you are appreciated card, book, etc.) anonymously.

Task Two Option:

Write a thank-you note to a person from your past who has made a difference in your life.

Task Three Option:

Drop off a plant, flowers or apple pie at a public service orginization or your neighbors house.

Well since I didn’t get time until tonight to enter anything I will double whamy the entries back to back.

For this day, I picked to open up the phone book and send a random hello greeting to someone. I flipped it open dropped my finger and then addressed the envelope to the stranger. Again when I do this I always wonder if the person gets the card and gets a smile or gets the card and wonders if a complete psycho has just sent them a card.

I doubt I will ever know!

Today was one of those days which I believe will happen on occasion in which due to such things as……..a holiday weekend… the expectation of fulfilling  one of the set daily tasks may not exactly occur. However it does not mean a random act of kindness can’t!

Today was a crazy hectic day…….a blast I might add. I give ‘Over the Hedge’ 4 stars btw! So as I was saying crazy hectic…a lot of running around doing all sorts of things. Luckily on of the first stops I had to make was the post office. I was intending to send a package off, but the long was incredibly long. It seems even at early morning… on a holiday weekend everyone wants to get the post office drop done first. So I scratched sending the package and went for the stamp machine. There I got a bunch of stamps and…..of course….pulled a bunch off, put with one of my random acts of kindness cards and put in view for someone to see and take. Also when we were on one of the many roads, at a light there were kids collecting money for the local animal shelter..so I gladly reached out the car window for that. My kids truly loved that one because we had just come from Pet Smart and had seen all the animals up for adoption.

My daughter told me today something that was incredibly sweet. After leaving the stamps.. she said, “Mommy you have a big heart. You love people you don’t even know.” I think what got to me more than the sweet thing she said was that she sees and understands the concept. Something I truly hope to pass on to my children.

Today I chose to do what I always do when I have to take my long Friday night trek when I have to drive through the tunnel. I paid for the car behind me when I went through. I always get such a kick out of it……….doesn’t seem to fade. Sometimes I do wonder if the person in the tollbooth give them my card or not.. or just waves them through. Who knows. I never wait to find out….just keep driving on my merry way hoping that someone got a smile out of it.

OOOPS didn’t write about this one until the next morning. Well being summer is finally here, this gave me a great opportunity to sort through my summer clothes. I found some things that I looked and asked myself— “WHAT was I thinking when I got that?!” I also pulled anything I didn’t wear last summer because most likely I won’t be wearing it this summer either. I didn’t get through doing this until after business hours for Goodwill, but they have their drop off set up so you can donate stuff after hours. Makes it very convenient….and also gives NO excuse for not donating things there once in a while!

Today I decided to write a well deserved thank you to someone truly special to me…….

My Dad.

My Dad has been there for me all my life whether I realized it or not. He is a truly loving and giving soul who has held my hand when I needed guidance, given me his shoulder when I needed to shed some tears, been hard on me when he saw me doing things wrong. My Dad ……….is my Dad and I wouldn’t trade him for anything in the whole world.
